William DeVaughn Anderson, owner of All About Car Audio, is highly experienced and has been working on cars for over 15 years. He first got the idea for a mobile audio installation service after holding a manager position at Crutchfield and Circuit City and seeing the demand for such a service. His first business, Bill on Wheels, incorporated this idea along with a mobile store. However, while participating in CIC's WIBO workshop, DeVaughn developed the business idea for All About Car Audio.

DeVaughn first heard about CIC through a friend and later entered and won the Chamber Minority Business Council Conference Pitch Competition where he won the first place prize, a spot in CIC's WIBO workshop. At the time, DeVaughn says that his business was not yet started because he was deep in the research process.

DeVaughn believes that every lesson of CIC's WIBO workshop was incredibly helpful. The most beneficial part for DeVaughn, personally, was the networking. “The more people you meet, the better, I feel that I can take something away from each encounter.” DeVaughn says that participating in CIC has helped his network grow and that it now has more breadth and diversity. “If I have any questions, I have a network of people I can call and email for advice.

DeVaughn’s advice to the upcoming class would be to make sure you love and embrace what you’re doing. “It’ll be a hard road without the passion.” In addition, he says “you have to be comfortable talking to people, telling them what you’re doing, and what you can offer.”

Today, DeVaughn is working full time with his business. He says All About Car Audio is still in startup mode, working intensely on marketing, advertising, and growing the business. DeVaughn recently started participating in monthly cruise-in auto shows with Advance Auto Parts where people can talk to DeVaughn and see for themselves what All About Car Audio is all about.
